Is it okay to give him apple juice diluted to a 3-4 month old?
My doctor gave me a gift and in it there are no guidelines for infant feeding about starting solids, etc. His book Wyeth Infant Nutrition. Anyway, he tells the 4 months to start with small amounts of juice apple mixed with equal amounts of vitamin-enriched water. 1 to 2 ounces as accepted. Everywhere else (online books) said to not give babies under 6 months any juice at all, only formula or breast milk.
You do not have to start your little one in anything at all except breast milk or formula during the first year of their child. However, many parents and their children start solids before the first year of life around 4 months + (but the AAP recommendation is 6 months) which is fine and should not hurt your baby, as long as their main source of food remains the BM or formula. Now on the juice, I think most parents wait until their children at least one year prior to that due to the high amount of natural sugar in juice. However, I given to my daughter (now 5 months old) diluted prune juice and apple juice as recommended by your pediatrician to help with your bowel movements (and my daughter is mostly with milk). It would be fine, but I really see no reason to unless you want to start. Therefore, it depends on you:)
